   2 Administrator Comment So I went ahead and bought a PIXMA iP6700D, and I was able to successfully use the instructions for the iP6600D to set the ROM to EUR and I removed the plastic block from the CD tray insert. Unfortunately, my attempts to create a homemade CD tray from types B and D templates listed on this site did not work. The printer keeps rejecting my tray. Does anyone know exactly which CDR tray type the iP6700D takes? Thanks, -=Derek The printer will actual list the tray letter in the printer properties.    3 Administrator Comment I am thinking of buying a MP780 but am amazed to find that I will have to muck around just to print cd’s etc. This is standard, isnt it. The tray doesnt come with the unit. I have to get it and do this stuff before I can print? I am in australia but found a great price on one in NY. The Australian version includes the tray and the feature from what I have been told. The American version doesn’t. The tray will cost you $20 or more from ebay sellers, so you should add that to your cost. The MP780 is the last MP model to allow the use of generic carts while the MP8xx line is a bit more advanced and better looking it does have the memory chip on the carts which means only using Canon carts or refilling the tanks with Hobbicolor refill ink which can be found on ebay. Most of the Ebay tray sellers however, have Type C as the one for the iP6600. And, your instructions for the iP5200 (using the type C tray) states that some people can use a Type B tray for the iP6600, but the Type C is the right one for the iP6600. Do you still need a unique print driver for printing CD/DVD? So the one provided with the US will not work for CD/DVD? Is your list a complete list of dirvers are are there other sources? 3. Once I set the machine for EURO disk printing, are there limitations or problems I will encounter as a US XP Windows user? 4.    9 Couldn’t be easier than on the MP960. I found that using a dental pick I could easily remove the plastic plate from the appropriate tray (that second little tray hanging in the output section). The first Rom page looked nothing like the one pictured but the post conversion one looked like the one in the picture. The first one was all black text.     11 Administrator Comment Yes the i9900 could be converted to the i9950 but it isn’t worth the money and the newer pixma are much better at it. The i9900 require an extra piece which is impossible to find anywhere. I would recommend buying the IP4300 and doing the easy convert to it. It will save you time, money and aggravation.     16 I just purchased a new Canon ip6600d Pixma printer to replace an older one that I had. I have tried dozens of times to get the printer to reset in order to use the cd tray, but to no avail. One time it will print the information page, other times, not, and even then, it will only print one time and not the second time.     19 I bought an MP600 and a tray off ebay. I did the 5 steps and kept having my CD tray rejected. But this site has some excellent troubleshooting steps for tray rejections. I followed those and now it works. I clicked on the “General Tray Rejections” as well as the “MP600″ links & was able to get it working. Thanks for the good info.     20 From what I understand, it was a legal issue between Epson and Canon. Apparently Epson has some US patent that Canon was infringing on for printing direct to CDs.     27 Administrator Comment Using XP pro. There is paper in the feeder, and the rear feeder is selected. The inner door is up when I’m trying to get into the service mode. Here’s the sequence: First, I unplug and reconnect printer power cord. I hold down RESUME and then hold down power.. I release RESUME and continue to hold down POWER. I double click RESUME and then release POWER. The Green light is solid, and the printer starts to turn on. I try to check to see if I’m in service mode by clicking RESUME and then POWER. You said that the printer makes noise when you first enter it might not be ready for the next command. Also you may want to try different software the cd labeprint software has been known to be buggy. You didn’t mention whether the printer properties drop down menu has the cd-r tray x listed in page size? You mentioned that a blue light flashes, is that still happening? That would indicate some kind of error, I believe that printer has two feed methods, one from the back and from the front, this has been a common problem. (Required to bypass Automatic Power-on function which keeps the printer on even if the power switch is off.) 2. Press and hold the Resume button and then hold the Power. (The Power LED lights in green to indicate that a function is selectable.) 3. Release the Resume button but keep holding the Power button. 4. Press the Resume button twice then release the power button. (Each time the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the Alarm and Power LEDs light alternately, Alarm in orange and Power in green, starting with Alarm LED.) 5. Press the resume 4 times and then Power. Make sure you wait until the Canon software tells you to lower the inner door and slide the tray in.     39 Everything worked great on my MP970 with iMac G5. I suggest you disconnect the printer from the computer (USB or Firewire) and put paper in each tray (front and upper back). Then go thru the 5 steps very carefully. After you complete that process, reconnect your printer to your computer and re-install your printer software from the disk that came with your printer. When using a Mac you do not have to uninstall the software. That is a PC necessity which is not necessary for the Mac. Simply re-install and that process “overwrites” the existing driver, etc. Once you do that then you are on your way to some wonderful disk printing. Incidentally, I use Disc Cover program to create my disk covers, and I think it’s great. This software comes with Printfolio, a BeLight software package, or may be purchased separately.     40 There is not a lot of info about installing the CD tray in the MP970 printer, so I just want to post that it does work on the MP970.     56 I installed the European drivers for my ip4000r (tried both the ip4000 and ip4000*r* drivers), on a MAC OSX machine, but when I go to page setup, I never see the cd-r tray option. I didn’t know how to uninstall the old drivers, so I just have been installing the new ones on top. I have already gone thru all the setup processes to enable cd/dvd printing (confirmed the magenta text), but I just don’t ever see an option to print from the tray. Please help! I have a MP780 and when I get to the end of part 2a in Service Mode, I hit OK for “standard” region, and then I hit the On/Off button but I just get the 3 cancel or wrong button beeps, and it doesn’t turn off and reboot.     59 All the inner doors are closed and paper is in the tray and I’m still getting the beeps. The other problem I’m having now is that the only way to get out of the Service Mode(because it won’t reboot) is to hit the Stop/Reset button, which I hit many times trying to get it to reboot(end of section 2a) and I’m not sure if that adjusted my print head alignment, because now all the colors are messed up(not solid or not there) when I print(on paper), and cartridges are new.     64 Yes, all the commands in service mode gave me an OK after I hit the OK button, and though it wouldn’t reboot, I went to the next section, and it wouldn’t reboot after that either, but I eventually went through the rest and the CD Printing works. I’m not sure if not rebooting will have any effect on the printer, but I powered down and unplugged the printer for a while, then uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, and everything seems to working okay.     65 Hi All – I have spent the past two hours re-visiting the fine art of CD printing after my tray B purchase 6 months ago and many unsuccessful attempts to get the printer (Canon MP760) to do anything except reject the disc. I now have beautifully printed CDs and cannot thank everyone enough for ALL the information posted on this forum. I cannot say which of the bits of information worked best – all I know is that it now works!! Advice to anyone struggling with tray rejection notice…….. Follow as many instructions as you can find here, and repeat as many times as you need to – Yes, the printer will beep, flash lights and ’stall’ from time to time – but nothing a little down time (unplugging it) won’t fix. I get through step 2a/2b with TYPE set to STANDARD. The problem is step 2a/3. When I press the “power button” (I assume that means the “ON/OFF” button), nothing happens. Using the stop/reset button isn’t a wrong choice but you may also want to press the power button more then once, such as two times in row or also holding down the power button as well when you reach those instructions in the process.     68 I should have made a much more elaborate description of the problem originally but my post was already longer than most posts. I have tried up to 10 successive hits of the power button. If I hit it quickly, there is no sound. If I hold it for perhaps 0.5 sec, there are 3 quick beeps. I’ve tried 10 of both, no luck. I’ve also tried holding down the power button for up to 15 sec, no luck. It appears that the settings have made it to the ROM because when I restart and redo the steps, I get the “CYGNUS-2″ and “STANDARD” settings under TYPE. I can perform instructions in the 2b series if I do a “STOP/RESET” to get back to the usual . When I press “OK” after getting to “CD-R CALIBRATION”, the ALARM light flashes continuously, about once every 3 seconds. There is paper in the rear feeder and that feeder is selected. STOP/RESET takes me back to the TEST MODE 1 but will not get me out of test mode nor stop the flashing alarm.     69 Alan, I had the same problems you are having with the same exact model. After I realized it wouldn’t reboot I just continued on to the next steps. I also had the same problem with the CD calibration, and I can’t remember how I corrected it. I was having many problems to where I unplugged the printer for a few hours and uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. I can try to run through the steps again and see what I did to correct my problem, because now my printer prints CDs fine(with a slight alignment problem).     73 yes!!! I just wanted to announce that I got my canon pixma ip6700D to print using the tray C insert. It was a royal pain in the you know where. I did follow the steps and I had similar issues where the cd labelPrint didn’t recognize the printer. I think Ted posted this issue. Also, in my photoshop page setup, I couldn’t find the cd tray C option in the drop down menu. All of these issues were fixed…wait for it….yes I updated the driver from the Canon website.     76 My problem is with the printer head scraping across my cd tray. The picture is aligned perfectly; the tray goes in and out just fine; I have no problem with the label design software, but when it prints there is a horrible racket that sounds like gears and belts squeaking and slipping. When the tray is ejected it is covered with scratches as well as the cd label. I have tried everything suggested on your site but there is no reference to the print head scratching the tray. (I am using the “E” tray) My printer is a Canon Pixma Pro 9000, I am running Windows Vista, I got the printout to read EUR V1.12 , but I have never been able to get the message “CDR SENSOR=OK” in red or any other color.     80 I’m not getting anywhere with the 5 easy steps and wonder if (a) there is a compatibility problem with my Pro9000 Mark II vs the original Pro9000, (b) I’m screwing up, or (c) all of the above. My printer is connected to the computer (PC with WinXP, turned on so I can follow the instructions, printer driver ver 2.27), printer turned off but connected to outlet, and paper loaded in rear feeder (default source for my printer). Took off the black plastic blocking strip. Started the Enable CD Print steps and first clue of problem is that I do not get any printout to confirm I’m in Service Mode. everything after that seems to be just turning the printer off and on, but with no internal changes. Do not get the 2nd printout at end either. At least I don’t seem to have screwed the printer up for regular use, as test photos still print as normal, but I can’t seem to change to EUR ROM. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, even just confirmation that someone else did it with a Mark II version of the printer. Thanks! The “confirmed” tag means that the enabler has proven to work on those models. The tray letter for newer models is Tray G and needs to be bought off ebay.     89 I have had a ip5200 for a while now, running fine on xp64. I’ve upgraded to win7 ultimate 64 and have encountered a few issues. I’m in UK and have always been able to print to cd but now the printer is recognised as a ip4500. Even when i print out the EEPROM it says it’s an ip4500….. it’s definitely a ip5200. When win7 selects the driver automaticlaly it’s for a 4500 and cd labelprint won’tr even open as it says there isn’t a compatible printer. If i update the driver to ip5200 cs labe print opens but the printer just flashes 6 times (tray open) and won’t actually print to the cd.
